Before and After Virtual Makeovers via Rollovers

I am in love with redesigning rooms - virtual style. I have so much fun doing it!
If I didn't have kids, I think I could sit at my computer all day playing around.
Someday, I'm hoping to turn my passion into a business to bring in some (much needed) cash.
But for now, I'm just having fun and building up a portfolio of my work (see below).

Anyways, I've been messing around and trying to figure out how to show my virtual transformations with rollovers and I finally got it to work.

To see what I mean, hover your mouse back and forth over the pictures below to see the transformations.

I don't know why this was so hard for me to figure out...
Really it's just three easy steps.
I'm no HTML expert, in fact I'm quite the novice. But I am good at googling how to do things and playing around on my own blog until I can figure it out.
You can't learn anything if you don't give it a try!

I figured out how to do the above rollover images by using the tutorial found HERE.

  1. This is a terrific idea! I'd love to do something like this. It's hard to picture how to decorate my home at the moment because we've been renovating. It's hard finding something to go with my concrete floors!! :(

  2. Thank you so much for this info. I'm trying to figure out how to do virtual design and the roll-over myself. I'm in an interior design program and I think this would only enhance my portfolio. If you could give me any hint as to where to start since I've never even used photoshop I would be so grateful. Thanks in advance...Oh and your rooms look great! love the colors. and yes, I think I could spend all day on that stuff too if I didn't have 2 little ones running around to take care of. :) Thanks

  3. I am such a visual person. My problem when decorating is that I need to see it first. Love the before and afters. We just bough new leather furniture for our living room. I am loving the simplicity, but I so need to figure out window treatments and accessories.

  4. This is SO.OO cool! Being the recipient of one of your room-makeovers, it's been an invaluable tool as we plan for our new family room. In fact, I've been consulting it a couple times a week. It's kept us from making BIG mistakes.:) Even the little things are huge - like picture balance, table shape and lamp proportion. Your design has helped us immensely!!!

  5. Love it! The makeovers are *fabulous*...then it's just the finding the time and money to do the actual makeovers, right? (c: Yeah, that's the toughie for me, too (c:

  7. Love your roll-over skills. I've never tried it, but that's because I'm not sure how you make the 'after' rooms. Do you do that in photoshop? or is there an online program that allows you to mock-up rooms like that. I'd love to try.
